New week and a new challenge on the theme of making the most of my wardrobe and being more creative with what I already have. Following my maximised wardrobe challenge in September I want to continue doing different kinds of challenges every now and then, so this week I’m doing a one-week Style Challenge.
I quite often fall into routines of wearing the same things but I want to avoid this if I can. There’s nothing bad in wearing the same things per se, but as it can lead to me getting bored of what I have, and therefore feeling the need to buy new things, I think it’s best to avoid to limit new purchases. Keeping things more varied also increases my creativity and makes me more excited about what I have when I get reminded about a piece of clothing that I may have forgotten about.
This week’s Style Challenge is set up by Swedish blog collective Just Wanna Have Fun and mainly focuses on colour and creativity – a perfect way to keep spirits up as we’re heading towards darker and colder times. I feel that staying colourful and creative with what I wear this time of the year is just what I need to I jumped right on it when I realised, late last night, it was happening this week.
So, what are the Style Challenge rules?
The challenge focuses on different themes/words each day – it’s quite a fun one and it’s not too restrictive but forces you to be creative and wear quite different things each day.
Monochrome Monday: Wear the same colour or different shades of the same colour, from head to toe.
T-shirt Tuesday: Wear a favourite t-shirt – dress it up with a skirt and heels, wear it under a dress, or just wear it like you normally do.
Pink Wednesday: As in Mean Girls. One piece of clothing, an accessory or lipstick is enough.
Texture Thursday: Something shiny and something fluffy, something see-through or a cotton knit rib – combine (at least) two textures.
Fancy Friday: Wear your most fancy piece of clothing – the one that’s just hanging in your wardrobe waiting for ‘the right moment’. That moment is today. Dress it down with jeans and trainers or go all in!
Light Saturday: Just because autumn’s arrived doesn’t mean everything needs to be dark and dreary – wear a light outfit and shine a bit extra!
Oversize Sunday: The perfect day to wear your cosiest piece of clothing – mom-jeans or boyfriend shirt, or a kimono or harem trousers. Also, a day to look back at the week and be pleased with your efforts and how good you’ve looked!
Everything is more fun when done together so do join in this week or do it any other week you fancy! If you’re posting on Instagram then use #JWHFStyleChallenge to tag and follow others doing the challenge 🙂
