Easter has never been a big thing in my family. We would always go away skiing during the Easter holidays so the actual Easter celebrations sort of got lost in the excitement of heading down the snowy slopes.
I’m not religious so haven’t seen is as much more than a few days off. And as an adult I haven’t really developed any new Easter traditions, so I find myself a bit confused about this holiday and am not really getting involved in any celebrations.
And what about the decorations?
As we were clearing out my grandparents’ flat when my grandfather passed away last year, I found this handmade, colourful table cloth, and couldn’t resist taking it. But apart from this, we don’t own a single piece of Easter decorations.
Do we have to? I’m not sure. When do they go up, and when do you take them down? I’m not sure.
I also don’t want to be buying decorations for the sake of it. But I’m thinking that it’s probably part of building a home, slowly. Buying a nice decorated egg that you find in an antiques shop. Or some tiny little porcelain chicks from a flea market. As and when you find them.
But for now, this is all we have and that’s fine.
